Thought I should write an update on my recovery from having both hips replaced in May.
While it has been a bit difficult at times, I am back to hiking again. After hiking one of the easy trails near Bend, Oregon where we live, my first real hike was in mid-July, the Senoj Lake Trail to Lucky Lake, a round trip hike of about 3 1/2 miles with an elevation gain of about 390 feet. I felt good the next day, so the healing was going well.
Then a couple weeks later we hiked two days in a row. The first was the Broken Top Trail. The two hikes combined were about 12 miles in distance, with an elevation gain of about 2,200 feet! Did I hurt a bit on Monday and Tuesday? Yup, but not all that much, and mostly it was just muscles I hadn’t used in awhile, not my new hips.
So the hips are doing well, and I am once again hiking, and that makes me really happy! My surgeon Dr. Finter of Desert Orthopedics in Bend, Oregon did I good job I guess.
