While it has been a bit difficult at times, I am back to hiking again. After hiking one of the easy trails near Bend, Oregon where we live, my first real hike was in mid-July, the Senoj Lake Trail to Doris Lake, a round trip hike of about 3 1/2 miles with an elevation gain of about 390 feet. I felt good the next day, so the healing was going well.
Then a couple weeks later we hiked two days in a row. The first was the Six Lakes Trail to Doris Lake, and the next day we hiked the Broken Top Trail. The two hikes combined were about 12 miles in distance, with an elevation gain of about 2,200 feet! Did I hurt a bit on Monday and Tuesday? Yup, but not all that much, and mostly it was just muscles I hadn’t used in awhile, not my new hips.
So the hips are doing well, and I am once again hiking, and that makes me really happy! My surgeon Dr. Finter of Desert Orthopedics in Bend, Oregon did I good job I guess.
